What is a good anti-aging diet?
This section introduces a diet that is good for anti-aging. There are various diets such as those that lower blood pressure and those that are good for weight loss, but in this article, let’s consider diets that lower oxidative stress.
These are “pigments”.
For example, “anthocyanin” in blueberries is the component of the bluish-purple color of blueberries. Blueberries produce anthocyanin to protect their flesh from ultraviolet rays and attach it to their skin.
You may have heard of anthocyanins and lycopene, both of which are good for you. They are both pigments. The fact that they contain a lot of pigments means that they have antioxidant properties.
This is because plants originally make pigments to protect themselves from UV rays. So, if you eat them, you can think of them as having an “antioxidant effect”.
In fact, there are some vitamins that you need to be careful about.
Vitamin A, vitamin K, vitamin D, and vitamin E are fat-soluble vitamins that dissolve in fat (oil). If taken in excess, these fat-soluble vitamins can accumulate in the body and cause health problems. Vitamin E in particular is said to have anti-acid properties, but please be careful not to overdose on supplements.
This is because the mitochondria are skipping a beat! As I mentioned in my article on the relationship between mitochondria and oxidative stress, sugar causes the mitochondria in your body to skip out on making energy. When this happens, oxidative stress spikes.
