Research suggests that Twendee X, an antioxidant formula, works to improve the body’s immune system, according to mouse experiments.

TIMA Tokyo Co. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President: Sho Tanaka), in collaboration with Professor Haruhiko Inufusa and his team at the Department of Antioxidant Research, Center for Scientific Research, Gifu University, has confirmed the results of a mouse experiment suggesting that Twendee X, an antioxidant combination product, activates NK cells, which are considered to be an indicator of immunity, and regulates the intestinal bacterial plexus, which controls immunity throughout the body. The research results suggest that Twendee X activates NK cells, which are an indicator of immunity, and regulates the intestinal microflora, which controls immunity throughout the body, and improves the body’s immunity. The results of this research were published in the April issue of the medical journal “BIO Clinica” (published by Hokuriku-kan Co., Ltd.) on March 31, 2020.

Contents and results of the study

1) Oxidative stress and NK activity
In an experiment in which human cancer cells (RPMI4788) were metastasized to the lungs of nude mice, the oxidative stress level in the blood of the metastasized nude mice was approximately twice as high as that of normal mice, and the activity of natural killer cells (NK activity), which control tumor immunity, was reduced. However, under the same conditions, the number of cancer metastases was reduced to 1/6, the increased oxidative stress was reduced by 65%, and NK activity was increased by about 2-fold in the group that received Twendee X orally for 4 weeks (see the figure below).

 

Changes in intestinal microflora after administration of Twendee X
It is said that about 60% of human immunity is controlled by the intestinal microflora, and we also examined the effect of Twendee X on the intestinal microflora. In an intestinal microflora experiment using rats whose oxidative stress was increased by ingestion of OPP, which is used as a fungicide for citrus fruits (intestinal microflora measurement: Takara Bio Inc.), it was confirmed that when rats were fed Twendee X for one week and then ingested OPP, oxidative stress was reduced and the diversity of intestinal microflora increased In addition, OPP has anti-inflammatory properties. In addition, an increase in Ackermannia, an intestinal bacterium with anti-inflammatory properties, was also observed, suggesting that Twendee X may improve immunity by regulating intestinal bacteria (see figure below).
